2. What goes in a good paw balm

A paw balm is butters and oils, set with a wax:

• Butters & oils — shea butter, coconut, olive, avocado, sweet almond — the moisturizing, protecting core.
• A wax to set it — beeswax (classic) or candelilla / carnauba for a vegan version.
• Optional — vitamin E, a touch of natural fragrance, or unscented.
